Types of Assistance

    Direct Loans:
    Financial assistance provided through the lending of Federal monies for a specific period of time, with a reasonable expectation of repayment. Such loans may or may not require the payment of interest.

    Obligations:
    (Loans) FY 05 $0; FY 06 est $0; and FY 07 est $0. (Note: Although no annual appropriations may be enacted, this program operates using revolving funds from the Federal Capital Contribution Fund. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2005, Public Law 108-447, included provisions that eliminated the authority of the NSL program to redistribute monies from the Federal Capital Contribution Fund in FY 2005. Similar provisions were included in the Administration's FY 2006 budget proposal. Funding in FY 2006 it is estimated to range from $0 to $3,500,000).

    Range and Average of Financial Assistance:
    $101,555 to $1,500; $23,051.
